Description:
Primary Objectives of Roles & Responsibilities.

General Responsibilities:

  1. To establish and implement an effective system and policy within the department of sales, marketing and business development. Constant review and revise operating system to improve efficiency. Such a system should embed seamless interaction with other departments within the Company.
  2. To define roles and responsibilities of each staff member in the department and set KPIs for each for assessment of their respective performance.
  3. To provide monthly reports to Senior Executive Management and quarterly updates to the Board of Directors of the Company.
  4. To control overheads within the department.

Objectives – Sales

  • Set sales strategies to achieve the below:


  1. Prepare annual revenue and vessel utilization budget for Senior Executive Management approval.
  2. Meet and exceed annual revenue and vessel utilization budget which have been approved by Senior Executive Management Committee.
  3. Ensure all AMG vessels are utilized and chartered with first preference with the target of medium and long-term charter durations.
  4. Identify potential third party vessel owners to enhance and secure cross charter revenue.
  • Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers to generate new business for the organization.
  • Direct the team to prepare clear and effective written proposals/quotations for inquiries for charter 
of vessels.
  • To increase market share in traditional market (Middle East & India) and open up new geographical markets especially Africa and South America.
  • Provide support to all overseas AMG offices.
  • Preparation of quality bid submissions for formal Tenders in coordination with operations department. Clear strategy and rationale of each bid to be presented to Senior Management for approval.
  • Prepare and ensure all Charter Party Agreements are precise, correct, well thought through by taking risk assessment into consideration.
  • Decision making on commercial bid submission with goal winning the tenders.
  • Risk assessment relating to all commercial contracts entered into with third parties and clients.


Objectives – Marketing

  1. Establish a market information system to conduct market surveys and analysis to identify potential clients, market demands and competition.
  2. Maintain a customer survey system to assess customer satisfaction in our services and coordinate incorporation of customer feedback with operations department.
  3. Provides management with information on customer and market demands, which will serve as parameters for strategic asset acquisition.
  4. Organize for company participates in trade shows and conventions.
  5. Preparing business development plan to expand area of operation.
  6. Direct, manage and coordinate all marketing strategies.

Objectives – Business Development

  1. Conduct credit assessment of new clients to ensure their financial background is strong to ensure smooth transaction of charter payments.
  2. Follow up and manage with customers/clients for outstanding payments in coordination with Accounts Department.
  3. Evaluate and coordinate transactional implementation of strategic projects including the entire process of outright purchase of specific vessels to meet awarded charter contracts.
  4. Identify and propose business opportunities including joint ventures, mergers/acquisitions and business diversification.
  5. Identify new geographical markets and formulate strategies to penetrate into such markets.
  6. Participate and involve in financial, contractual and legal aspects of project execution as and when required.

Knowledge & Skills Required;

  • Technical knowledge of offshore support vessels preferable.
  • Strong understanding of sales & marketing principles.
  • Understanding of the operational procedures
  • Sequences in offshore projects related to oil & gas.

Education & Experience Professional Experience & Skills Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Commerce/Economics/Engineering or related discipline with accredited tertiary institutions.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in the marine, oil & gas and offshore engineering & construction related industry. Offshore vessel chartering preferred.
  • Competent level of interpersonal, sales & marketing skills.
  • Competent level of negotiation skills.
  • Manage pre and post sales activities to achieve planned outcomes
  • Manage workplace information
  • Manage quality customer service and customer focused.
  • Possess high self-motivational attitude.
  • Implement and monitor continuous improvements to systems and processes. Facilitate and capitalize on change and innovation.
